A passenger pulled a knife out on a SEPTA driver on the 23 bus after the driver asked the passenger to clear the aisle. He is wanted for aggravated assault on a SEPTA driver.

 

Philly cop gets arrested for the second time after his supervisor catches him in his marked police cruiser with THREE flat tires. That wasn’t all either, he was also reeking of alcohol and his eyes were bloodshot. His hearing is scheduled for April 13th. It is likely that he won’t be getting his job back.

 

The new “Joe’s Steaks” in Tacony used to have a racist name. The cheesesteak shop was formerly known as “Chink’s”, and old fans are outraged by the name change. Read more about why the name change occurred here.

A 15-year-old teen was jumped by a group of young males at a subway platform in Center City. The assault took place on Thursday, March 19th at around 4 p.m. Video footage shows the large group of males pumble the victim to the ground, then fleeing the scene. Detectives are still looking for the suspects.

 

Council President Darrell Clarke wants to bring new technology to Philadelphia which helps locate and track shootings in our city. It is called ShotSpotter, and it is already being used in Camden and in parts of New York where it is said to be effective in reducing shooting crimes.

 

Drunken idiots caused over $1800 in damages by breaking windows at Jim’s Steaks on South st. Video footage shows one of the morons throwing himself into the windows and breaking it. They’re still at large.

Man gets 35 years in prison after trying to rob a Cosi for the third time! Why did he get that long? He was prosecuted under the federal Hobbs Act which gives stiffer sentences for armed robberies of businesses involved in interstate commerce. More below.

 

Man steals desktop computers from Port Richmond Walmart. He did it on two occasions where he walked into the electronics section and walked out the back door with the computers while a getaway vehicle was waiting.

 

A new study shows that pedestrian traffic deaths rose during the first half of 2014. Does this mean that walking is more dangerous in PA than anywhere else?

 

A 13-year-old was robbed in front of Eastern State Penitentiary on 22nd street in Fairmount. The victim said that he was ambushed from behind by four teenagers and wrestled to the ground before they grabbed his iphone and ran off. Read more here.

 

The FBI is looking for a Flyers cap wearing bank robber after he robbed the Santander bank at Broad and Oregon. Police say he walked in with a note demanding the cash and then left. Officials are still looking for him.

A fire broke out this morning at the Locust Medical Center in West Philly. It was around 4:45 a.m. when the fire started and firefighters came to the scene. With the frigid temperatures this morning, and all the water that was used, the whole medical center was in cased in ice. Check out the amazing pictures by clicking below.

Police arrested the man they believe to be behind the robberies at Ubiq on Walnut Street and the Ultimo coffee shop in Point Breeze. He was arrested in Powelton Village on Tuesday by US marshalls. Bail is set at $250,000.

A suspect has been arrested in the Girard Ave trolley attack case. Damon Oliver was the man who assaulted a 17-year-old female on January 21st. He turned himself in to police on Wednesday. He’s been charged with terroristic threats, simple assault and reckless endangerment.

A Philadelphia doctor and receptionist could be facing 20 years in pill mill scheme. Federal authorities charged them with one count of conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance.

Philanthropist Raymond G. Perelman has given the Childrens Hospital of Philadelphia $50 million dollars in order to develop an 8-acre campus for health research and scholarship. The new campus will be a hub of pediatric research.

 

A 17-year-old girl was attacked on the 15 trolley while on her way to school. Reports claim that the girls bag kept hitting a man while they were on the crowded trolley. Apparently the man became enraged and struck the girl 3-4 times in the face. She was left with a black eye and a broken nose, while the man ran off the trolley. Detectives are still investigating this incident.

 

Man robs a Center City bank with a fake bomb. He reportedly went to the Republic Bank on Tuesday evening with a note and a box. The note demanded that the teller hand him the money and explained that he was carrying a bomb. He presented the teller a box of wires who then gave him the money. He is still at large.

The body of missing college student Shane Montgomery was found in the Schuylkill River on Saturday. The student went missing on Thanksgiving Eve after leaving Kildare’s Irish Pub around 1:45 a.m. His family made a tearful statement after a dive team recovered their sons remains.

 

An Indonesian man tried to board a plane at Philadelphia International Airport on December 19 carrying two concealed blades under his shirt. He tried to make a connection to another plane heading to Miami, but TSA workers noticed two lumps under his shirt. Upon more investigation, the knives were found inside of an empty highlighter and the other in pen. The Department of Homeland Security has gotten involved and is seeking to take him into custody.

 

Driving is going to get a little more expensive. Tom Corbett enacted Act 89 last year which is the transportation funding law. It will raise the state’s tax on gasoline wholesalers by 9.8 cents per gallon.
